Seagrape Wine Company isn't even big enough to be a micro winery – we're a "nano-winery"! It all began in 2001, when Karen “dropped out” of the Tech world for just a few months and was working as the lowest of the low in a winery; a cellar rat shoveling stems, cleaning out fermenters, hefting barrels… In 2007, she became the winemaker at Buttonwood Farm and at the same time she and her late husband founded Seagrape, named after their lives and loves of the seaside, tropical places and its flora. Seagrape produces a mere 500 cases of wine per year with a focus on Chardonnay, orange Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir from the Hibbits Ranch in the Sta. Rita Hills and Sauvy Blanc and Franc from the "estate" vineyard in Los Olivos.
