Join Julia Child’s niece, Phila Cousins, for fresh baked Bree’Osh pastries and a stroll down memory lane about her time with “Aunt Ju-Ju ” in Santa Barbara, hosted by author, editor and co-producer of the Inside Julia’s Kitchen podcast, Lauren Salkeld.

A portion of the proceeds from the Taste of Santa Barbara will benefit the Santa Barbara Culinary Experience in partnership with the Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts.

Bree’Osh café is the café boulangerie for locals to enjoy artisanal, sourdough breads, pastries, omelettes, tartines with a good cup of coffee. We specialized in sourdough brioches bread and viennoiseries. Our energies are focused on sourcing the highest quality ingredients and treating them with respect. Great attention to detail is given at every single stage of the process. 

We use liquid sourdough and a slow and long fermentation. It takes 15 hours to make the brioche bread and 3 days process to make the croissant. Sourdough enables to decrease the amount butter and sugar in the final product.

Philadelphia (Phila) Cousins recently retired from her private practice as a clinical psychologist specializing in child and family therapy and trauma recovery. She earned her PhD. at the University of Denver and BA at Harvard/Radcliffe. In Cambridge she became very close to her Aunt Julia and Uncle Paul Child, often dining in their kitchen, now at the Smithsonian Institution’s American History Museum. She also visited Julia and Paul’s house, La Pitchoune, in Southern France several times. Philadelphia loves to cook and  shares Julia’s appetite for great food, wine and lively conversation at mealtimes.
